Bang Bang Sauce is great for dipping French fries, chicken tenders, chicken wings, and chicken nuggets. You’ll love the zesty flavor it adds to fried foods.

I first tried this creamy sauce at Bonefish Grill, but I like our homemade version better. It tastes great, and I get to control the ingredients.

Ingredients for Bang Bang Sauce

Ingredients to make the recipe.

Gather the ingredients to prepare our bang bang sauce recipe. Culinary professionals call this the “Mise en Place,” which means “everything in its Place.”

Setting up your ingredients not only helps speed up the cooking process but also ensures you have all the necessary ingredients on hand to make the recipe.

Can I change up the ingredients?

You sure can. Our Bonefish Grill Restaurant copycat recipe has four simple ingredients. But you can easily adapt it to your taste preference.

For a more savory sauce, add garlic powder and onion powder. Add a little cayenne pepper to kick up the spice level of this delicious sauce. If you prefer it sweeter, add more honey to the mixture and cut back on the sriracha.

Add rice wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or lemon juice to give the mixture a little more tang.

We made the recipe with sriracha, but you can also use your favorite hot sauce to make the recipe. You can also swap out the honey for maple syrup or agave.

If you’re not a fan of mayonnaise-based sauces, make this tasty sauce with sour cream or Greek yogurt. For a lighter version, use low-fat ingredients.

Leftover sauce should be stored refrigerated in an airtight jar or container for up to five days. It does not freeze well.

Recipe FAQ’s

Are Yum Yum and Bang Bang sauce the same?

No, they’re not. Although they may look similar, Yum Yum sauce is a vinegary, tomato-based sauce with many more ingredients and not the same level of heat.
However, both sauces are served with similar dishes.

What’s the difference between Boom Boom and Bang Bang sauce?

Both sauces are similar, but Boom Boom sauce is typically made with additional ingredients. They both are mayo-based and have sweet chili sauce and sriracha, but Boom Boom sauce will have tomato paste (or ketchup), mustard, and additional spices.
