Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt or coarse sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon sweet paprika or smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin optional

Instructions

  • Add all the kosher salt, sweet paprika, garlic powder, and cumin to a small bowl and mix together to combine thoroughly. Set aside until needed.
  • Rinse the sweet potatoes with cold water and use a brush to remove any dirt.
  • Cut the sweet potatoes down to ¼ inch French fries. Try to keep them all similar in size for an even cooking.
  • Place the cut fries in a large bowl with cold water for 30 minutes.
*If you're short on time, this step can be skipped, but soaking will remove the excess starch, and give the fries a crunchier, crisper texture.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees and spray the basket with a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Dry the fries with paper towels and place them in a large bowl or dish.
  • Drizzle the olive oil over the fries and toss to coat them.
  • Sprinkle the seasoning over the olive oil coated fries and toss to combine, coating the fries.
  • Add the seasoned sweet potato fries in a slngle layer to the preheated air fryer basket.
*Make sure not to overcrowd the basket.
  • Cook the sweet potato fries at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
For crisper fries, turn them over halfway through the cooking process.
  • Carefully remove the fries from the air fryer, and serve immediatley with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

If making multiple batches, preheat your oven to 200 degrees to keep the sweet potato fries warm while cooking the next batch.
You can also cook the sweet potato fries in your oven at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Place the fries on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet (or directly on a foil or parchment-lined baking sheet).
