All-American Hot Dog Bar

For some delicious summertime fun create an All-American Hot Dog Bar at your next grill event or camping excursion.  Try my classic side dish toppings and add in a few of your own favorites. Your friends and family will be glad you did!

Quick Mac and Cheese

  • ½ lb elbow macaroni or your favorite noodle
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • ¼ cup milk
  • sea salt and black pepper to taste

Hot Dog Bar Toppings

  • 2 lbs hot dogs
  • 16 hot dog rolls
  • 1 lb bacon cooked crispy and chopped
  • 1 cup red onion diced
  • 15 ounces baked beans or chili
  • 2 cups cheddar shredded
  • 1 cup bleu cheese crumbles
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard
  • ¼ cup deli mustard
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup sweet relish


Quick Mac and Cheese

  • Cook elbow macaroni per instructions on the box.  Drain macaroni and place back into a hot pot.
  • Add butter, milk and cream cheese and blend well.
  • With the pot over low heat add shredded cheddar cheese and stir until completely melted.  Add additional milk if necessary.
  • Season with sea salt and black pepper to taste

All-American Hot Dog Bar

  • Place bacon on a parchment lined cookie sheet and place in 425 degree F. preheated oven for 18-20 minutes.  Drain bacon on paper towels and allow to cool.  Chop bacon when cool and place into a serving bowl.
  • Chop red onion and place into a serving bowl.
  • Place condiments and cheese in serving bowls
  • Cook hot dogs on preheated grill.  Roll hot dogs every few minutes to get good grill marks on them.
  • Heat baked beans and place in a serving bowl. 
  • Place hot mac and cheese in a serving bowl.
  • Place hot dogs and rolls on serving platters.   
  • Set up the All-American Hot Dog Bar and enjoy!
