Classic Pumpkin Pie

When it comes to homemade pies, nothing could be easier to make, than a classic pumpkin pie. Creamy and delicious this American Classic will become a family fall tradition.

Ingredients

Pumpkin Pie

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • teaspoon pumpkin pie spice more or less to taste. Or you can substitute cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice.
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 15 oz pumpkin puree (one small can) not pumpkin pie
  • 12 oz evaporated milk condensed unsweetened

    Instructions

    Pecan Pie

    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
    • In the bowl of your mixer beat eggs slightly, and add in corn syrup, sugars, salt, butter, bourbon, and vanilla, mix well.
    • Add in chopped pecans
    • Pour mixture into pie crust and bake for 50 -60 minutes or until a thermometer in the center of the pie reads 200 degrees

    Apple Cranberry Pie

    • peel and cut apples into slices or chunks
    • mix apples with cranberry sauce, brown sugar and cinnamon
    • add the mixture to pie crust and top with streusel topping
    • bake for 60-70 minutes at 350 degrees on a foil-lined cookie sheet to catch drippings

    Streusel Topping

    • mix flour, oatmeal, salt, cinnamon and sugars together
    • add in butter and work into flour mixture until butter is completely cut into flour mixture
    • mixture should have small clumps and look grainy

    Pumpkin Pie

    • Mix sugar, cinnamon, salt and pumpkin pie spice in a small bowl.
    • Beat eggs in with your mixer until frothy
    • Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture.
    • Gradually add in evaporated milk (I use only about ¾ of the can)
    • Pour into pie shell.
    • Bake at 350 degrees for 50 - 60 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.
    • Cool on wire rack and refrigerate until serving
    • Top with whipped cream before serving.
