Did I mention it gets crazy cold in Florida? In fact we even have our own Polar Plunge. Now I’m not saying its as cold as Lake Michigan this time of year, but for Florida Saturdays water temp was a chilly 55 degrees….brrrrrr
I know right now some of you are laughing, some are cursing but before you get too riled up, let me explain.
Saturday I was lucky enough to be included in “Freezin’ For A Reason” 6th Annual Polar Plunge at Seaworld Aquatica. My friend Seaworld Mommy (not her real name) got the nice folks at Seaworld to let me broadcast live from their Aquatica Water Park in Orlando for this worthwhile event benefiting The Special Olympics.
This event was brought together through the efforts of Special Olympics Florida and a lot of amazing businesses, organizations and spirited individuals. It really made you feel good about humanity to see so many people giving of their time and talents to help make this event successful. The folks at Seaworld were gracious and accommodating and I was fortunate enough to talk to two of the big Kahuna’s at Seaworld Orlando.
I got to chat with President of Seaworld Orlando Terry Prather
And Shamu even came out for my Youtube broadcast, how lucky was I! (Photo courtesy of Seaworld Mommy)
Channel 9 anchor Greg Warmoth did a great job as emcee of the event.
But it wouldn’t have been a party without all the plungers who followed the this years theme and “Plunged Like a Rockstar” dressing the part for this fun event!
Team HQO really took the challenge to heart with their costumes!
Not to be outdone was Team Sunkist
WWE Wrestlers made up Team NXT and they were the life of the party!
Families like The Capital City Chillers came to support the event as well as many individuals.
And they all came to party. Here are the plungers getting ready for their group picture.
with Music provided by Hildi and Jay from 98.9 WMNO (unfortunately I didn’t get the pretty half of this combo Hildi in the picture…sigh)
And of course there was the plunge itself……..brrrrrrrr such brave souls!
And where would we be without social media stars like Seaworld Mommy, spreading the word about the event with their readers.
