When I first heard about The Florida Key Lime Pie Festival I didn’t need much convincing to attend this delicious event! I also thought it would be a great opportunity to share a day out in beautiful sunny Florida, my new home state!
It certainly was a perfect day for the event, and there was so much to see and do at the Festival. Not only did the Festival feature Florida Artisans showcasing their work from beautiful acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings, marine wood carvings, nautical knot decorations, palm frond art, pottery, sea bean and sea glass jewelry, tiki carvings, tropical floral arrangements and much more.
to satisy your hunger there was also a variety of local restaurants selling and sampling some of the delicious creations they serve. My personal Favorites were Fishlips, Dixie Crossroads, Long Doggers, and Southern Yankee BBQ. And of course The Florida Key Lime Pie Comany was there serving their amazingly delicious Key Lime Pie in a Cup, in a Coconut, and by the Slice.
If you like hot sauces, there was a variety to choose from including Fat Cat with their Cat in Heat and other sauces
One of my other favorites was Petreaux’s Gourmet Hot Sauce
There was also a diverse variety of entertainment throughout the day to keep you occupied including the very talented duet Gemni.
And my personal favorite Marc Dobson the one man band!
You could also find Magicians, Fire Eaters, and of courser the 2014 Hooper of the Year Rachel Lust.
The day was jam packed with activities and the weather was perfect…. but then again what else would you expect for a January day in Florida!
The Brevard County Sherrifs Department was on hand to keep the order, and the order of the day was Don’t Worry Be Happy!
Even the Bloodhound team was out for the meet and greet, enjoying the attention and occasional belly rubs.
And you know that I had a good time mixing it up with the locals!
Lisa and I did manage to get a few hours of sun and fun on Cocoa Beach which was just a few miles down the road from Exploration Tower.
Here’s the video sharing some of the days festivities
