Lisa and I celebrated the Anniversary of our first year in Florida last Tuesday and I began thinking about all the wonderful places we’ve been to since our arrival in Florida and how I’d love to share them with my friends.
I didn’t have to think very long about it, because I knew that Google+hangouts would be the perfect way to share my adventures, and since most of these adventures would be road trips, it only seemed natural to call the series “On the Road with Chef Dennis”
I quickly cobbled together a banner to promote the premiere edition of my new show, and quickly realized I needed professional help (not that kind, oh ….well, maybe) and called my “Go To” guy Ryan J. Rhodes of Reformation Designs. Ryan is responsible for all of my other show logos and my new Ask Chef Dennis logo, he’s easy to work with and makes sure you’re satisfied with the finished product.
I’m a firm believer in things happening for a reason and being asked to attend a weekend of eating and drinking at a wonderful beachfront property with a group of people that I’ve never met sounded like an interesting way to spend a weekend.
From the moment I got there I was made to feel very welcome. Without even knowing who I was many of the Eggheads (what they call Big Green Egg enthusiasts) approached me to see if I was staying at Tuckaway Shores which followed with an invitation to come back down for dinner! Now that’s Hospitality.
What I later discovered was a true Joy of Cooking on The Big Green Egg as Friday Night unfolded and I began sampling one delish dish after another! Not only was I pleasantly surprised by the versatility of The Big Green Egg but the friendliness of all Eggheads and how they had all come together to share thier stories and their creations. It was a beautiful evening in more ways than one.
As we stumbled off to bed late in the evening (me stumbling a little more than Lisa after two glasses of Apple Pie Moonshine) we were greeted by the sound of the ocean coming from the nine foot folding glass doors that opened up to our Ocean Front View. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and the stars never seemed brighter on this delightful fall evening at Tuckaway Shores on the Indialanitic Beach.
But when we woke up to Sunrise the view from our room took our breath away…….it was glorious!
There was so much to do in the area and so many delightful little restaurants Lisa and I enjoyed the morning and early afternoon exploring the area.
We had breakfast at Sand on the Beach at the Bikini Bar enjoying spectacular views with our breakfast.
Then later made our way down to Vero Beach to do a little shopping!
And then it was back to Tuckaway Shores Resort for another night of eating and drinking at the Big Green Egg Mini-fest and of course my new show On the road with Chef Dennis!
This is the premiere episode of this series, and I don’t know when the next will be or where it will be but I promise to take you along on each and every road trip as I enjoy the beauty of Old Florida and where ever life takes me.

I googled roast pork rack and came across a recipie of yours that I will try tomorrow for Christmas dinner. What took me on past that random search to your website was the engaging snapshot you created when writing about Easter brunch with your mother in 2012.

I finally had a moment to sit down and actually read your post and watch part of the video, and you have me so wanting to travel to Florida!! Since our last visit (with you) Brian has researched Florida more and more and is eager to explore and has ideas of possibly retiring there. I’m sure he will have some questions for you in the years to follow!!
And now Tuckaway Shores is on our list to visit. Looks like you had a fabulous time and met some super fun people! Careful with that Apple Pie Moonishine… I lived in Louisville for a few years and people really know there stuff!! 🙂

It is a virtual paradise Kim, Lisa and I are looking forward to exploring more of Florida. We want to see the Keys and the Pan Handle. If you and Brian make it back down we’d love to show you around Orlando as well, there is so much to do outside of the Attractions.

Very Cool Dana, I am hoping to get to more of the Big Green Events next year!

I’m sorry I missed mini-eggfest!! We just love it, I had a wedding to attend and a teenager who loves Halloween. But we will be at The Sunshine Eggfest in March 2015!! And crack me up!! That’s George behind you in the video!! Lol

It’s hard to beat hanging out with a bunch of Eggheads.

Great post Chef! Love the descriptions and the quality shots. Plus the Hangout gives a real perspective of a friendly resort that is attentive to the guest that visit.
