When my alarm went off in the dark hours of the morning, I had a flashback to all those years working at the school and getting up at 4 am….sigh. It’s not something you ever get used to. But this morning was different and there was a very important reason to be getting up that early. This morning the race was being held to help promote a better lifestyle by cooking healthier, getting fit and staying active. Small steps towards a healthier lifestyle can mean a longer and more productive life for all of us.
As part of the three-day John Hancock Hosts The Cooking Light & Health Fit Foodie Race Weekend, calories were both burned and earned as droves of health enthusiasts showed up for the run.
As host of the 2016 race series, John Hancock sponsored the John Hancock Vitality Village, the ultimate post-race experience that rewards a job well done and celebrates participants’ hard work through delicious and healthy experiences. Here we see Olympians Ryan Hall and Bill Rodgers discussing healthy eating options that can help fuel a healthy lifestyle with Chef Rene Marquis.
Fitness without good nutrition is not nearly as impactful on your health as when you combine the two. After the race, chefs were busy with cooking demos, teaching us how to us to create dishes that were healthy and delicious!
It was quite a busy day at the finish line with photographers, fans and family all watching the contestants finish the race.
It was nice to see families completing the course together. What better way to teach our children to be healthy than by setting a good example.
Even moms with their strollers made their way along the course to the finish line. Now that’s dedication and hard work, all to provide a healthier lifestyle for their families. Visit JHRewardsLife.com for more information on how you can be rewarded for the small steps you take towards a healthier life!
