Another week has flown by, and believe it or not, I’m back at work…….sigh Nothing too strenuous yet, so don’t be worried, mostly administrative, getting things ready as next Monday starts the flow of product into the school, and getting the kitchen ready for another wonderful year feeding my girls at the Mount!
Speaking of my girls, they do love to eat, and love to laugh, but they have seen their share of tragedy’s within our Mount family. I think that’s why it hit me so hard when I heard about Jennie and her girls, and the loss they suffered.
Jennie’s request to her friends in the foodie community was a simple one, to make a peanut butter pie that her husband had loved, and to share it those that you love. Her simple request held a powerful message. None of us know just how long we have in this world, and we need to embrace life, and what’s really important, our family and friends. I have to say that the way the community embraced Jennie and her girls left me speechless, and I have never been prouder to be a member of this community.
While most of us were still coming to terms with Jennie’s loss and our own mortality, one of our own, Shauna Ahern our Gluten Free Girl, took it one step further and developed a project, A Fund for Jennie . Many bloggers are holding auctions, and many of us are bidding on the auctions or just donating to the fund. Don’t feel bad if you have nothing to auction, or can’t bid on anything, give what you can no matter what it is, I know it will be appreciated. Today my friends I get share with you one of our communities rising stars, Erin from Dinners, Dishes and Desserts! Erin has an endless amount of energy and has been amazing us with her delicious creations on almost a daily basis…..How do you do it!! Well, I’m not really worried about how, as long as you don’t stop! I do look forward to my daily dose of Dinners, Dishes and Desserts !

Hi! I am Erin, and I am the writer of Dinners, Dishes, and Desserts. When Dennis emailed me and asked me to do a guest post, I was shocked! Me? Really? Me? I may or may not have squealed a little bit. Kind of makes you feel like you have made it in the blogging world when a real live chef wants you to guest post for him. So now I have to live up to that, oh the pressure! What do I make? That was the really hard part.
I seem to have a thing lately for trying to make things that you can buy in a store, Nutella, Milky Ways, Peanut Butter Cups, and Goldfish. I have more in the works as well. So I thought it was fitting to share one of these with Chef Dennis. I have a friend who is obsessed with the Cherry Limeade at Taco Bell. So she had the brilliant idea of turning that into a cocktail! I almost NEVER make cocktails, but this one sounded too good to pass up! It tastes just like Cherry Limeade, so drink responsibly!
|Cherry Limeade Cocktail||
- 1 lime
- 2 shots (1 ounce each) Cherry UV Vodka
- Fill 2 glasses with ice.
- Squeeze half a lime into each glass.
- Pour a shot of vodka into each.
- Top off with Sprite.
- Garnish with a lime.
